Do You Remember or Can You Imagine?

Imagine

Do you remember when you were helped by an amazing person?
Who never judged you, yet asked you for your best.
Who believed in you, stood beside you, urged you on.
Who gave you the glory for your achievement and accepted responsibility for what didn’t work.

Do you remember what distinguished that person from others?
Was it her wisdom; was it his presence; was it brilliance; or was it that they simply cared?

Do you remember when everyone was in chaos, when hope had fallen flat?
When that one person, amid the mess, calmly asked the question that pulled it all together.
That person who didn’t hope, but had faith and resolve that we could and would overcome.
That one person who’s focus and unrelenting belief in “We can and we will” changed the game.

Do you remember when no one knew what to do, and then a person asked that question that triggered the team’s answer that caused them to come together and win?

Do you remember that that person was one of us – could be any of us?

At any given point in time each of us has the opportunity to step up and help; not by dictating the answer or the action; not by forcing their will upon us; not by being the hero; but by caring for us all and our mission.
Selfless souls who don’t need the limelight but do care for us, our values and our vision; and know why, how and what to ask, with faith, trust and certainty, so that the best action becomes obvious to us all – those are our leaders.

We are all those leaders – when we step up and ask.

Whether we are in battle, in sport, in commerce and government, or family and community; every day we are faced with challenges that require us to come together to overcome.
Whoever steps up in the manner that works best will be the leader for that time.

Rarely will it be by force or authority - if it is it never lasts.

Mostly it will be by the power than comes from within, with courage, humility and selflessness, building real trust and respect with consistent care and competence, whilst always honouring our values and our vision.

How amazing is it that we can all do that? Every one of us.
Imagine that!
