3. Ethical Standards
Metattude adopts the ICF Ethical Standards in full, customised to our practice.
3.1 Ethical Standards
- Educate all parties on the nature and limits of coaching.
- Cocreate clear agreements on roles, responsibilities, confidentiality, fees, and termination.
- Respect the right of any party to end the relationship at any time, subject to the agreement.
3.2 Confidentiality & Legal Compliance
- Maintain strict confidentiality with all parties.
- Agree in advance how information flows between coach, coachee, and sponsor.
- Disclose only when required by law or to prevent imminent harm.
- Securely store and destroy records in line with legal and contractual requirements.
- Ensure all technology and AI tools meet privacy and security standards.
- Hold support personnel to the same confidentiality obligations.
3.3 Professional Conduct & Conflicts of Interest
- Identify, disclose, and manage conflicts of interest.
- Set culturally sensitive boundaries.
- Prohibit discrimination in any form.
- Forbid sexual or romantic relationships with clients or sponsors.
- Reveal any referral fees or other inducements.
3.4 Commitment to Delivering Consistent Value
- Actively manage power dynamics with clients.
- Monitor personal fitness to practice; seek support or pause coaching if impaired.
- Reallocate clients when value diminishes.
3.5 Professional Integrity & Accountability
- Work within competence and credential boundaries.
- Make true, accurate statements about services and outcomes.
- Uphold the “do good” philosophy, considering broader societal impact.
- Cooperate fully with any ethics review process.
4. Continuous Professional & Ethical Development
- Minimum 40 hours CPD annually, including ethics training.
- Regular supervision & peer mentoring.
5. Technology & AI Use
- Disclose all platforms and AI tools utilised.
- Vet tools for privacy, bias, and compliance.
- Offer clients the right to opt out where feasible.
6. Implementation & Governance
- This Code applies to all Metattude staff, contractors, and support personnel worldwide.
- Noncompliance may result in remedial training, suspension, or termination of affiliation.
- Reviewed biennially or as required by changes in the ICF Code of Ethics.
