You’ve heard it before – I’m an accredited black belt in XYZ Process, or I’m an accredited coach with the X Coaching Federation, or I’m accredited in X-ship Neuroscience.
In my area of operation, what I hear most often is ‘But I have a Diploma in Training and Assessment’.
Sadly I have found that most often means they have a diploma in putting people to sleep.
It’s not their fault it’s just the ‘accreditation mentality’ at work.
Looks great on paper and certainly satisfies the risk adverse bureaucracy.
The proof is always found in reality.
The accreditation means absolutely nothing unless it’s backed by real results based on meaningful work done.
Then there are those who deliver positive results, evidenced by work done, who aren’t accredited in the topic.
I’d rather pay attention to those people.
They are worthy enough to create useful evidence without relying on ‘accreditation’.
Accreditation is a symptom of mediocrity and rampant bureaucracy.
Lazy bureaucrats rely on accreditation because it makes it easy for them.
They haven’t the ability or energy to ascertain whether a candidate has practical evidence that is worth considering.
What do you think?
