With the discussion about equality of marriage rights for gay and lesbian people high on the Australian nation’s agenda, watch closely for valuable leadership lessons from Tony Abbott.
Regardless of what he says and does about the issue, now that his opposite Bill Shorten has tabled a bill on the matter, there will be lessons to be learned.
I’m hoping they will be positive lessons, rather than negative lessons.
It might be a good time for Mr Abbott to make another ‘captain’s call’, this time one in tune with the nation’s majority view.
There will always be critics in the political arena, no matter what Mr Abbott eventually does.
However I ask you to look at what unfolds as an example of current leadership.
What do you think?
